01. Protocol Overview & Acceptance
Permit Protocol (“Permit”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides decentralized smart contract interfaces, client SDKs, and a web application interface accessible at permit.io and associated domains.
By connecting your cryptographic wallet, signing structured permission envelopes (EIP-712), or interacting with Permit smart contracts deployed on the Arbitrum One network or any other supported blockchain, you explicitly agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must immediately discontinue use of the interface and protocol.
02. Non-Custodial Architecture
Permit is 100% non-custodial. We never take custody, possession, control, or escrow of your digital assets, cryptographic private keys, or wallet balances.
When you create a payment permission, you sign a mathematical authorization that allows a specified recipient smart contract or address to transfer tokens up to an explicit cap within a defined timeframe. Your assets remain inside your self-custody wallet until the exact second an approved execution condition is verified on-chain.
03. User Responsibilities & Rule Configurations
You are solely responsible for the configuration and execution parameters of any permission you create, including:
- The numerical spending cap per interval (e.g. maximum dollar or token allowance).
- The recurrence duration and expiration epoch.
- The recipient address or smart contract whitelist.
- Maintaining the security and confidentiality of your wallet, mnemonic phrases, and private keys.
Permit cannot reverse, rewrite, or refund any on-chain transaction that was executed pursuant to a valid cryptographic signature produced by your wallet.
04. Autonomous AI Agents & Delegated Software
If you delegate permissions to autonomous AI agents, algorithmic trading bots, automated background workers, or third-party applications, you acknowledge that you are responsible for any charges initiated by such software within the authorized limits.
Permit provides the mathematical guardrails (caps, intervals, whitelists), but does not supervise or monitor third-party agent logic. You retain the ability to pause or revoke any policy immediately from the dashboard.
05. Blockchain & Smart Contract Risks
Interacting with blockchain systems involves inherent technical risks. By utilizing Permit, you represent that you understand:
- Transactions on Arbitrum One are irreversible once confirmed.
- Gas fees fluctuate based on network demand and are paid directly to network validators.
- Smart contracts, while rigorously designed, are subject to underlying blockchain protocol upgrades, layer-2 sequencer availability, and potential software bugs.
- Market values of digital assets, including stablecoins, are volatile and outside the control of Permit.
06. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the Permit interface or protocol to:
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law, sanction, or regulation.
- Engage in money laundering, terrorist financing, or other illicit financial activities.
- Deploy malicious software, exploit bugs, or disrupt protocol functionality.
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent geofencing, IP blocks, or compliance restrictions.
07. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE PROTOCOL AND INTERFACE ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PROTOCOL WILL OPERATE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR FREE FROM ERRORS, VIRUSES, OR PROTOCOL EXPLOITS.
08. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PERMIT, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, DEVELOPERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR DIGITAL ASSETS, ARISING FROM YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE PROTOCOL.
09. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. When modifications occur, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. Continued use of the interface following any changes constitutes your binding acceptance of the updated terms.
